Basic Gun Dog Training  ( 8 Week Program )
The skills taught in this program I honestly believe are the basic skills all dogs should have before attempting to bring any dog hunting, anything less could cause several issues with your dog's performance in the field. Pheasants will be used for training during this program, ducks will also be used if available.

The following skills will be taught:
* Obedience, on and off leash control ( heel, come, and sit stay )
* Introduction to remote training collar ( collar condition to all commands )
* Whistle commands ( whistle recall )
sit to whistle is taught by request only
* Build a natural want to retrieve on land, in water and through decoys
* Introduction to retrieving to and from field stand / blind

* Bird and gun introduction while encouraging a natural retrieve
* Develop a natural want to hunt and follow scent in medium to heavy cover

Please Note:
The retrieving skills taught in the Basic Gun Dog Training program is all about building your dog's natural want to retrieve. Although most retrievers do very well with a natural retrieve, not all retrievers do well when it comes to retrieving birds, birds are a food source which means some dogs might try to eat the bird or refuse to retrieve the bird. If your dog is having a problem retrieving naturally, your dog should go through the Trained Retrieve program.

There is two reasons why I separate the two programs, the first reason is because not all owners want their dog going through force training and by separating the two programs this gives everyone a choice, this also allows a dog to come back at anytime if the owner changes his/her mind. The second reason is because alot of people who do their own training prefer to have a professional do the force training. Force training is very dificult, it takes alot of patience and if it's done wrong a person could cause severe issues with their dog's performance.
Trained Retrieve  ( 8 Week Program )
Dogs must have on / off leash obedience and must be properly collar conditioned to all commands before starting this program. The trained retrieve is about having more control of your dog's retrieve and is the process of making a dog more reliable when sent on a retrieve, this training converts the playful natural retrieve to an obedient controlled retrieve with the proper hold, return to heel and delivery to hand. The trained retrieve in my opinion is the toughest training a dog and trainer will ever go through, and is the foundation for all advanced training. Pheasants will be used for training during this program, ducks will also be used when available to ensure a proper bird retrieve and delivery to hand.

The following skills will be taught:
* Force hold and proper delivery to hand ( this will teach your dog to hold and carry a bird properly )
* Force fetch ( This turns the retrieve into an obedient command )
* Force to pile ( This will teach your dog to take a line without seing a mark / bird fall )

Once the dog has completed the force training, I will then put it all together with steady to gunfire, lining and multiple mark retrieves.
Please Note: Steady to gunfire will only be taught if the dog has already been introduced to firearms and is not gunshy.
