Basic Gun Dog Training  ( 8 Week Program )
The skills taught in this program I honestly believe is the foundation all dogs should have before attempting to bring any dog hunting, anything less could cause several issues with your dog's performance in the field. Pheasants will be used for training during this program; ducks will also be used if available.

Please Note:
Dogs must be able to retrieve before starting any retrieving skills in this program. The retrieving skills taught in this program is all about building on your dog's natural want to retrieve. Although most retrievers do very well with a natural retrieve, unfortunately there are retrievers that don't do so well with a natural retrieve, especially when it comes to retrieving birds, birds are a food source which means most dogs will try to eat the bird or refuse to retrieve the bird. If your dog does not have a natural want to retrieve or tries to eat birds, your dog will need to go through the Trained Retrieve Program before I can work on retrieving skills.

The following skills will be taught in this program:
* Obedience, on and off leash control ( heel, come, and sit stay )
* Introduction to remote training collar ( collar condition to all commands )
* Whistle commands ( whistle recall ) sit to whistle will only be taught by request only.

* Build on your dog's natural want to retrieve on land, in water and through decoys.
* Introduction to retrieving to and from field stand / blind.
* Introduction to shotgun ( 12 gauge )

* Introduction to birds while encouraging a natural retrieve.
* Develop a natural want to hunt and follow scent in medium to heavy cover.
Trained Retrieve  ( 8 Week Program )
Dogs must have on / off leash obedience and must be properly collar conditioned to all commands before starting this program. The trained retrieve is about having more control of your dog's retrieve and is the process of making a dog more reliable when sent on a retrieve; this training converts the playful natural retrieve to an obedient controlled retrieve with the proper hold, return to heel and delivery to hand. The trained retrieve in my opinion is the toughest training a dog and trainer will ever go through, and is the foundation for all advanced training. Pheasants will be used during this program; ducks will also be used when available.

The following skills will be taught in this program:
* Force hold and proper delivery to hand.
* Force fetch ( This turns the retrieve into an obedient command )
* Force to pile on land and through water ( This will teach your dog to take a line without seeing a mark / bird fall )
