( Specialize in Training Retrievers for Upland Game and Waterfowl Hunting )
Basic Field Training ( Upland Game and Waterfowl )
Depending on how much field training you want done with your dog, this program on average takes 4 to 8 weeks to complete.

Training for Waterfowl hunting
This training is all about your dog learning to watch the sky for birds, marking shot birds, retrieving skills on land and in water, your dog will be introduced to retrieving from a field blind, your dog will be introduced to retrieving through decoys on land and in water.

Training for Upland Game hunting
This is all about birds, birds and more birds, lots of live birds is what creates the drive a dog needs to go into the thickest of cover to find birds. Dogs will be introduced to hunting in medium to heavy cover and will learn to hunt close.

Birds will be used in this program ( Pheasants and Ducks )
Remote control bird releases will be used to help simulate birds flushing in real hunting situations.
Shotgun ( 12 gauge ) Field Trial Blanks will be used to simulate shooting in real hunting situations.

Why should a dog be trained?
A dog should be trained because we owe it to the dog to ensure his or her safety and well-being, to give him or her a purpose. Training is a responsibility we owe our dogs just as much as providing food and shelter.

For hunting, we have retrievers, flushers, pointers, trackers, and the versatile breeds expected to do it all. Each has its own specific training requirements and most of our dogs are also family dogs. To further complicate things, each of these specialties might be training for hunt tests or field trials only or for just a hunting companion and posssibly for a combination of two or more of these venues. Each venue has special requirements, which means special training for each venue.

Philosophy
No two dogs are trained exactly a like, temperament, attitude and submissiveness all determine how I approach the final goal of producing a top rated gun dog. There is one goal every dog I train has in common and that is to be the best they can be at the job they are being trained for along with a ton of desire and drive to do that job.
Training Programs
Please Note:
Dog's must be 8 months old or older before starting Gun Dog Training.
The following shots are required and must be up to date, Rabies, Distemper combo ( DHLP-P ) and Bordetella.
Dogs must be cleared of all intestinal parasites.
Dogs must be clear of fleas and ticks and all dogs must be on flea and tick prevention.
Dogs must be groomed and nails trimmed.
Owners are encouraged to visit their dog weekly to check on their dog's progress.
Private lessons and obedience only training is also available.
Trained Retrieve
On average, this program takes 8 weeks to complete.

Please note: There is no field training in this program. The trained retrieve is about having more control of your dog and your dog's retrieve, this training converts the playful natural retrieve to an obedient controlled retrieve with the proper delivery to hand.

Many people fail to understand why a dog that already retrieves naturally should be trained to retrieve. The truth is that the forced retrieve is more about control than it is about retrieving, a dog that completes a forced retrieve program is more reliable and obedient than dogs who control how and when birds are retrieved. A dog that is properly force trained will retrieve birds in the order you want them retrieved, return to heel and properly deliver to hand, the retrieve is completed on your terms not the dog's terms.

I honestly believe this training is the foundation to all gun dog training and all dogs should go through this training before starting the field work. This training is the most important and the most difficult training a dog and trainer will ever go through and is a must if you want a reliable retrieve and a proper delivery to hand.

The following skills will be taught in this program:
Obedience, your dog will be trained to the following commands ( come, heel, sit/stay )
Force fetch, your dog will be trained to the following commands ( fetch, hold and give )
Introduction to shotgun ( 12 gauge )

Birds will be used in this program to ensure a proper retrieve and delivery to hand ( Pheasants and Ducks )

Once your dog has successfully completed this program your dog will be obedient on and off the field, your dog will have a strong desire to retrieve, your dog will completely understand what his or her job is and will be ready to start field training.
